Is it over?

How much rain is too much rain?  Irene decided to stop by yesterday.  MAC was kind of hoping that she wouldn't show up until she was ready for bed but the rain started about 11 yesterday morning.  It was opening day at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and everyone wanted to go.

By the time I got off work at 2pm it had been raining for several hours.  Hubby and MAC were soaked through and she was ready to go home.  Hubby's sister and friend had come to Faire just long enough to walk around a little and have a drink with Hubby before the rain got to her.

By the time we got home the rain and the wind had picked up.  MAC took a long, hot shower and then had a few slices of pizza.  She decided to sleep in the living room last night.  We lost power for a few minutes (just long enough to shut the TVs off, and make sure that we were in the dark) but it came back on.

The wind did bring down a few branches from our backyard tree but thankfully not on our house or our neighbors.  We were very lucky and none of our backyard furniture was moved by the wind.

This morning when we woke up there was definitely a sunrise and she asked, "Is it over?" I was glad to be able to say yes.  According to the news Anne Arundel County had the most power outages with Baltimore coming in a close second. By 1pm this afternoon the sun was shining with a slight breeze.  There were several stop lights out but for the most part it seems as if we missed a lot of the damage.

I'm guessing that other parts of the county didn't fare so well since we got a phone call from the school system saying that they have closed schools tomorrow.  MAC was so very excited to have "lived" through a hurricane and not have school she couldn't stop smiling.
