This has been a long and frustrating week. Last Thursday MAC found the CMS health room. I had the 504 meeting with the teachers and her guidance counselor on Friday. Saturday was a really nice family day then Sunday turned into a mess and Monday was an unmitigated disaster.
The health room was MACs second most used "resource" while at Bates. Anytime she wanted to be out of class she was able to say she had a headache or stomach ache and go to the health room. We have tried to make her go back to class and have tried to make things easier for her.
The 504 meeting, which is where we went over the different plans that had been in place in Bates, went ok. The teachers said that they have not had any behavioral issues with her but that she has made it abundantly clear that she does not want to be there and that she has not turned in any work. We are hoping that allowing her time to draw will give her incentive to take some notes and "tune in" during class.
Saturday was a really nice family day. We got MAC a new back pack since her old one was falling apart, and the comic book store for Hubby. We ran to the knitting store for some yarn for a Christmas gift and then found a new restaurant called Metro in the new Annapolis Towne Center.
Sunday MAC and I were supposed to go to a journaling class after church. I had not read the entire description, and had not realized that there would be yoga first. It was nice relaxing yoga but MAC refused to do anything, she did say the music was relaxing. When it came time to make our journals she said no. She was quiet and kept her comments to a minimum which was good, it was just disappointing to spend good money so that she could lay on a yoga mat.
Monday was all around yucky. I had a doctor's appointment and Hubby dropped MAC off at school. I hadn't even had a chance to meet the doctor when I got the first from Hubby. By the time I left the office Hubby had been on the phone with the school and was livid. I was going to pick her up but was told that she had been sent back to class. I heard that she had high blood pressure, headache, and blurred vision. I called the pediatrician and made an appointment for the afternoon. By the time I got to work Hubby had been called again by the school to come and pick her up. On the way to the pediatricians office Hubby said that he had said nothing about high blood pressure and was upset about all three of us having to go to the doctors office.
Needless to say last night was a two glasses of wine night! I know that Pervasive Developmental Disorder isn't easy to live with, I know that it isn't fun for MAC or Hubby to always feel as if they are "aliens dropped on a weird planet"; but they can help themselves.
