Who would have ever thought that the word "bookstore" would cause such a problem. Ok, so I know two of you out there for whom "bookstore" is a bad word. MES and I used to read anything and everything we could get our hands on from the school and the base library. SG continues to lend me multiple books out of her extensive library.
Today I mentioned that I was planning on going to the bookstore and MAC took it to mean that I was going to take her to the bookstore, and buy her a new Manga. (Which we had just done on Saturday.) She was supposed to have taken notes in her 4 core classes. When I asked her she said that she had only taken notes in one class. I told her no way was I going to take her somewhere and buy her something when she hadn't done what she was supposed to do. For the rest of the afternoon which was all the way through her Doctor's appointment and then the ride home. She started crying when I took the exit to the house instead of to the bookstore.
Although I continued to tell her that I would not buy her anything she kept asking. I finally told her there was no way in the world that I would the tears kept coming. When we finally got home I was fed up. I left her downstairs and went to my room. Her father was so angry that he made her put all her manga away until further notice and told her that we would not be purchasing any more until he felt she had gotten the point that we did not purchase her something every time we went out and that the word "bookstore" did not mean that we were going there right away.
